Philippe Coutinho spared Brazil's blushes as Neymar also struck a late goal to seal a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in Saint Petersburg.

Coutinho poked home from close range deep into injury time before Neymar volleyed in with virtually the last kick of the game to earn a dramatic victory.

PSG star Neymar was left infuriated by rough tackling in the first half, and was denied a penalty after the break as referee Bjorn Kuipers initially awarded a spot-kick before consulting VAR and going against his original decision.

Neymar was fouled 10 times during the 1-1 draw against Switzerland, more than any other player since England's Alan Shearer was roughed up by Tunisia back in 1998.
